Fire Watch

The Fire Rating in Seguin right now is HIGH! This means:

NO OPEN BURNING allowed.

Burn Permits are suspended. NO FIREWORKS allowed. Campfires permitted for cooking, warmth, and socializing (maximum size 1m x 1m).

Seguin Township has updated its Fireworks and Open Burning By-laws. Fireworks are now only permitted on the following holidays between dusk and 11:00 p.m.:

Victoria Day and the Saturday and Sunday of that holiday weekend.

Canada Day, and:

  • If Canada Day falls on a Monday or Tuesday, the preceding Saturday and Sunday
  • If Canada Day falls on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, the following Friday and Saturday

New Year’s Eve/Day, following the time limits listed below.

Consumer fireworks can only be set off on the days mentioned above, between dusk and 11:00 p.m., except for New Year’s Eve/Day when fireworks are allowed until 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

There have also been changes to the open burning by-law as well, specifically with higher maximum fines and penalties and hindering enforcement.
